Duas from the Quran and the Sunnah
Dua for difficult times
In difficult times, these are short duas from the Quran and from the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Each one comes with its source.
A promise from Allah
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
Fa inna ma'al-'usri yusra. Inna ma'al-'usri yusra.
So surely with hardship comes ease. Surely with hardship comes ease.
These are not a dua but the words of Allah. Many people repeat them to themselves when things are heavy.

When it feels like too much
رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ۖ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا
Rabbana wa la tuhammilna ma la taqata lana bih, wa'fu 'anna, waghfir lana, warhamna.
Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us and have mercy on us.

Calling on His mercy
يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ
Ya Hayyu ya Qayyum, bi-rahmatika astaghith.
O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all, by Your mercy I call for help.
Anas reported that when something troubled the Prophet, peace be upon him, he would say this.
