Duas from the Quran and the Sunnah
Dua for hardship
When things are hard, these are short duas from the Quran and from the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him. Each one comes with its source.
In distress
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ
La ilaha illallahul-'Azimul-Halim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbul-'Arshil-'Azim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbus-samawati wa Rabbul-ardi wa Rabbul-'Arshil-Karim.
There is no god but Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the Noble Throne.
Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to say this at times of distress.

The dua of Prophet Yunus
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.
There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have been among the wrongdoers.
Yunus, peace be upon him, made this dua in the darkness. The next verse says: So We answered him and saved him from distress (21:88).

When something feels too hard
اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلًا
Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahla, wa anta taj'alul-hazna idha shi'ta sahla.
O Allah, nothing is easy except what You make easy, and You make the difficult easy when You will.

Trusting Allah
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil.
Allah is enough for us, and He is the best to rely on.
